One Step Away

TOTE BAG GORBEIALDEA 2023.jpg

Gorbeia is located right in the centre of the Basque Country. We are a destination with numerous attractions and activities in a rural setting of intoxicating natural beauty where you can easily spend a week or a month.

Stay in Gorbeia. Choose a country house in a traditional farmhouse, a boutique hotel, a cottage or a flat and enjoy Basque hospitality.

Go for the activities. Our companies organise all kinds of experiences, from rowing or sailing on our reservoirs to guided routes through the villages or become a beekeeper for a day, take a yoga class, go tasting or enjoy a photo shoot, always in a professional, enjoyable and safe way.

Get to know our villages. These are a reflection of our evolution and history, with a heritage that can be seen in the palaces, tower houses and historic buildings and in the traditional farmhouses and mills that you will see in the surrounding area.

Visit the museums and interpretation centres. They will help you to get to know our culture and traditional way of life and learn more about our customs in an enjoyable way.

Savour the gastronomy. Whether it is a meal around the table with typical dishes or a good bar of pintxos accompanied by a glass of txakoli or cider.

Buy Gorbeia. Traditional Basque ceramics, wood carvings, organic cosmetics, homemade honey and jam, craft beer or cider or a good cheese.

Come to the markets. Here you can enjoy the legacy of the people who work in agriculture and livestock farming, guardians of traditional life in Gorbeia, who supply our kitchens and restaurants with fresh, quality products.

Experience the local festivals. The fiestas are still the place where we celebrate our traditions: Basque sports, traditional dances, crafts, music and gastronomy.

Breathe fresh air. We are the Green Heart of the Basque Country and our natural parks are its heartbeat, where you will enjoy numerous routes and trails with spectacular landscapes under the gaze of spectacular mountain ridges.

If you would also like to go on an excursion, we are just a stone's throw from the three capitals: Bilbao, Vitoria-Gasteiz and Donostia-San Sebastián and La Rioja Alavesa.

Bilbaoa

Bilbao, with its industrial past and its modern present, where you will see emblematic buildings such as the Guggenheim Museum or the Euskalduna Palace, cultural centres and museums such as La Alhóndiga, the Maritime Museum or the Fine Arts Museum and the historic Arriaga Theatre. The Old Town with its narrow streets full of life and bars and restaurants is known for its great atmosphere.
